Where the governments disagree on Namibia
Opinion on Namibia is divided, though not dramatically: ratings run from level 1 to level 2. Eight of the eleven take the stricter view, and the remaining three see no cause for it. A one-level split of this kind usually reflects differing thresholds between governments rather than a dispute about the facts.
These assessments are not equally current. Japan's dates from February 2024 — roughly 2.6 years old — so it describes conditions that may have changed several times over since.
The warnings for Namibia are not uniform across the country. Two distinct areas are singled out by at least one government. The areas named are defined by long district-level lists rather than by single place names — see the individual advisories above for the exact boundaries. At least one government advises against non-essential travel to a specific area while taking a softer line on the country overall.
Your own government's rating is the one your insurer and embassy will act on, so read that source first — the one level of daylight between the strictest and most relaxed assessments here is context, not a substitute for it.
