Where the governments disagree on Zimbabwe
United Kingdom alone rates Zimbabwe at level 1. Every other government places it higher, all at level 2. Where one government is markedly more relaxed than the rest, the safer planning assumption is the majority view rather than the most reassuring one.
These assessments are not equally current. United States' dates from June 2023 — roughly 3.3 years old — so it describes conditions that may have changed several times over since.
The warnings for Zimbabwe are not uniform across the country. Five distinct areas are singled out by at least one government. Among them: Harare (city center) and Bulawayo (city center). At least one of these carries the highest possible rating, meaning a government advising against all travel there while rating the rest of the country lower.
Your own government's rating is the one your insurer and embassy will act on, so read that source first — the one level of daylight between the strictest and most relaxed assessments here is context, not a substitute for it.
