United Kingdom alone rates Trinidad and Tobago at level 1. Every other government places it higher, from level 2 to level 3, with the largest group at level 2. Where one government is markedly more relaxed than the rest, the safer planning assumption is the majority view rather than the most reassuring one.
Currency varies between sources. New Zealand's is the oldest assessment of Trinidad and Tobago on file, last revised in November 2024, while the rest have been reviewed more recently.
The warnings for Trinidad and Tobago are not uniform across the country. Nine distinct areas are singled out by at least one government. Among them: Enterprise (Chaguanas) and Movie Towne (Chaguanas). At least one of these carries the highest possible rating, meaning a government advising against all travel there while rating the rest of the country lower.
The level 3 rating from four of the twelve governments carries practical weight even if your own government is more relaxed — insurers commonly price against, or exclude, travel contrary to official advice, so the rating that matters most is the one issued for your passport.
