Where the governments disagree on Solomon Islands
Assessments of Solomon Islands range from level 1 to level 3, a spread of two levels. South Korea and Taiwan take the strictest view and four of the twelve governments the most relaxed, with the largest group at level 2. A gap this size usually means the risk is concentrated in particular areas rather than spread evenly across the country.
Currency varies between sources. New Zealand's is the oldest assessment of Solomon Islands on file, last revised in December 2024, while the rest have been reviewed more recently.
The warnings for Solomon Islands are not uniform across the country. One distinct area is singled out by at least one government. Among them: Honiara (including Guadalcanal and Malaita islands). At least one government advises against non-essential travel to a specific area while taking a softer line on the country overall.
The level 3 rating from South Korea and Taiwan carries practical weight even if your own government is more relaxed — insurers commonly price against, or exclude, travel contrary to official advice, so the rating that matters most is the one issued for your passport.
