Assessments of Israel range from level 2 to level 4, a spread of two levels. Four of the twelve governments take the strictest view and five of the twelve governments the most relaxed, with the largest group at level 2. A gap this size usually means the risk is concentrated in particular areas rather than spread evenly across the country.
Currency varies between sources. South Korea's is the oldest assessment of Israel on file, last revised in June 2025, while the rest have been reviewed more recently.
The warnings for Israel are not uniform across the country. 18 distinct areas are singled out by at least one government. Among them: Gaza Strip and surrounding border areas and North Sinai Governorate. At least one of these carries the highest possible rating, meaning a government advising against all travel there while rating the rest of the country lower.
Four of the twelve governments currently advise against all travel, and that has consequences beyond the wording: most policies void cover for travel taken against your own government's advice, and consular assistance may be limited or unavailable on the ground.
