Where the governments disagree on Honduras
United Kingdom alone rates Honduras at level 1. Every other government places it higher, from level 2 to level 3, with the largest group at level 2. Where one government is markedly more relaxed than the rest, the safer planning assumption is the majority view rather than the most reassuring one.
These assessments are not equally current. Japan's dates from January 2024 — roughly 2.7 years old — so it describes conditions that may have changed several times over since.
The warnings for Honduras are not uniform across the country. 15 distinct areas are singled out by at least one government. Among them: Gracias a Dios Department due to crime and San Pedro Sula. At least one of these carries the highest possible rating, meaning a government advising against all travel there while rating the rest of the country lower.
The level 3 rating from United States, South Korea and Poland carries practical weight even if your own government is more relaxed — insurers commonly price against, or exclude, travel contrary to official advice, so the rating that matters most is the one issued for your passport.
